In the Vale of Evesham
For bookings contact
Set in the Vale of Evesham, tucked under the Cotswold scarp, the Methodist Church is part of the village of Willersey. It is an attractive village with a duck pond, and an old Parish Church. Two village pubs can provide coffee, lunches, teas and evening meals at reasonable prices. One of these has Bed & Breakfast facilities.
The Methodist Church has been established for eighty years and has a small car park at the front on the village green. The garden is at the rear of the property, facing south and looks straight up the Cotswold escarpment with an uninterrupted view.
It is a peaceful setting and lends itself well to Christian gatherings and meditation/contemplation.
Facilities and History
The Church was founded in the early 1930s by the joining together of three cottages on the end of a terrace. The cottages date from circa 16th Century.
The church buildings are double glazed. The Sanctuary seats around 120 and is unique in its church furniture, which was all designed and made at Gordon Russell’s factory in Broadway. Gordon Russell is well known for his connection with the Arts & Crafts Movement of the early 20th C which was based in the North Cotswold area. C R Ashbee (the Arts & Crafts Designer) formed his Guild at Chipping Campden, only three miles over the hill.
The Community Room, toilet and kitchen were all totally refurbished three years ago to conform to Health & Safety Standards. There are chairs and tables available for garden use and the kitchen is fitted with a warming cupboard, fridge, dishwasher and a range type oven.
