Christmas is the time when, as Christians, we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. The story begins when God sent his only son, Jesus to be born by the Virgin Mary. The Angel Gabrielle appeared to Mary and gave her the good news – You will bear a child and you will call him – Emmanuel “God with us’. When it was time for Mary to give birth, a census was called by King Herod calling for all citizens to return to their birth town. This meant that Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem on a donkey.
When they arrived in Bethlehem, there was no room at the Inn. Jesus, the Son of God was born in a stable.
Meanwhile, King Herod heard this wondrous news and summoned the wise men to seek the child and bring news of his birth, so he could go and worship him. From the east, the Three Kings, upon seeing the baby, offered him gifts, gold, frankincense and myrrh. The Shepherds came, upon hearing the good news from the Angel Gabrielle and guided by a star.
